File Sharing on Wireless Network

My dad has a laptop that is hooked up via wireless to our router, and I just built him a new PC that is hooked up to that router via a cable. Now, how can I share folders on his laptop and access them on his new desktop? I tried everything mentioned here: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp/filesharing/filesharing21.gif but I can't see the drive that I want to share under Workgroup computers or my network places. I was able to share files at a LAN party a while ago, so I know it can be done.

the 486 in your sig, is that one of the PCs mentioned in your post ?

what OS are these 2 PCs

basically they have to have the same workgroup name
each others account has to be on both machines
no firewalls,,,, for the time.
a folder needs to be shared
are you using DHCP from the router ? or static IP addresses.
streight through cables if connected to a router, no cross over cables. ( except for wireless)
can you get to the internet on both ?

No, the laptop is a celeron 2.0ghz and his new desktop is a Sempron 3500+.
They both have Windows XP.
They have the same workgroup name.
All firewalls are turned off.
Both C drives are shared.
Using Static IP.
Both straight through cables
Both can have internet
And the files on either computer still won't show up.

Did you try accessing the computers by name?

\\computername

or by local ip

\\192.168.2.2

Also, if you go into network neighborhood (double click dont right click).. on the left side you will see a "entire network" double click it.. Then double click "MS windows network" and then opn the one which you have names your work group.

Do any of these work?
