I'm helping my friend build a computer... first mistake was trying to build a Pentium D computer on a low budget, second mistake was getting a crappy case with an included crappy 480 watt PSU. The computer was working for a little while but then it started to make a weird noise, we determined that it was the HDD powering up then turning off repeatedly. We unhooked that and messed with things for a little while before realizing that there was no beep from the case speaker telling us that it was working correctly. The only way to obtain the desired "beep" was to unplug everything that wasn't essential for the beep. If anything else is plugged in other than the motherboard, ram, cpu, and cpu fan, it doesn't work. I'm asuming it's a bad PSU but am i wrong? if so, any suggestions for a good PSU that supports SLI but is inexpensive? i.e. less than $100
