Hi, im from Denmark so.. sorry for my horrible english.
First of all i need to provide you with some background information. what i am trying to do is, build a computer from scratch, using only secondhand trashed parts. in my town we have a recyceling site where people and companies trow away old computer systems and stuff. so me and a friend once a week go out and collect what we can.
i finally collected enough parts that fit together. my problem is that when i put it all together, and install windows vista (i dont think the hardware supports windows 7, i might be wrong...) it worked some times (about half of the times i booted up it got through, i also had to try avout 10 time before i got the os installed corectly).
i then proceded to install some motherboard and GPU drivers, i then restarted.
HERE IS MY PROBLEM:
when i get to the login screen i get blue screen of death, and it says: "an error has been detected and windows has been shut down... bla bla" i have rebooted it 50 times, never always get to login screen, then it fails.
So i am trying to locate the problem, here is a list of the parts i have used:
antec true550P EPS12V PSU (almost 100% sure that there is nothing wrong with this part)
abit i-N73V motherboard (motherboard CPU and RAM all came from the same computer and was assembled when i found it
core 2 duo processor
3 GB kingston DDR2 800Mhz RAM
500GB hitachi Harddrive (there is nothing wrong with this harddrive)
ati Radeon 3870x2 GPU ( this graphic card also work perfectly, however i am not sure if any of the parts is compatible with the otherparts)
Any idear what the problem might be??
since the parts are from a recycle site there is no garentee that they are working
Thank you for tjecking this post
UPDATE
i am at the moment running memtest86 and have allready found 816 errors (only 33% complete forst run). does this mean that my memmory is broken?
if yes:what memmory is broken, is it only the RAM or could it be something else?
if no:How do i fix these errors?
if i need to go out and buy new RAM, i am thinking... is it really worth it spending money on this project?the essence of it all is that the computer should be used for my litle brother to play minecraft on (also as a "test" bench, is it even going to be able to handle that if i get it fixed?
how do i procede from this?? any idears would be much apreciated
Thank you for your time, and thanks to the people who have allready helped me.
