Faster Internet

Well here at my college I get an average of 200 bits per second. Thats not bytes indeed it is bits and I can't stand. I have heard of a few people hooking up routers or something to one computer to get increased bandwidth. I have no idea about any of this stuff as you can tell, but I just can not live with this speed any more. Any help would be great, thanks Bob.

Meaning they paid for their own internet at school, and shared the line to other people to cut on cost. Try snaggin someones wireless signal.

Some colleges install filters on the networks to only allow the users to download at a specific rate..
This helps with bandwidth problems through the campus.

(Almost all schools, businesses and so forth use these.)

It is the schools internet. What they did is some how used routers or something to bring more bandwidth to their personal system. I don't really know what they did or how they did it, all I know is that they have more bandwidth.

Pretty sure they do have our line capped, but it's not to the dorm in general and not to specfic users. I am just looking for a way to 'port' more bandwidth over to my room.

Thanks for all the help, Bob.
