External Hard Disc Issue (Iomega)

Hi,

My external hard disc (Iomega) cannot be connected to my laptop as the USB cable attached to it does not seem to power up the hard disc. I have changed another USB cable but still does not work. It appears that he hard disc is the problem, not the cable.

How do I rectify this issue? and most importantly is to retrieve the data stored in the hard disc.

Is this a 2.5" or 3.5" external hard drive?

Either way you could probably pop it out of the enclosure and use this to try and extract the data:

Anyone can advise if it is still possible to retrieve the data from the disk? now that the cable connecting to the hard disk cannot power up the hard disk i.e no light.

As Voyagerfan99 has said, its usually possible to remove the drive from the case and hook up to an adapter he linked or hook it up to a desktop system to retrieve the data.
