Wire is wire. I used phone cables a while back when dad brought home a surplus of it (he had some really nice copper wire from the phone company)

Depends on the amperage. If its lower wattage(<25watt) ethernet cable(cat..5/5e/6?) would work alright, but higher than that you would start overloading the small wires inside the network cable. Ethernet is only like 28/30 guage, super low load capacity. Is it really that much trouble to grab a 500ft roll of speaker wire from your closest radioshack(last resort, hardware stores are usually cheaper)/lowe's/home depot/menards?

BTW-Cant resist.... I dont think ethernet wire would make good speakers as its just wire, it doesnt have a magnet, diaphram, etc... So you wouldnt want to use it as your speakers:P

Ethernet wire is extremely low gauge, unless your running the cheapest, low-powered speakers I would stick with higher gauged speaker cable.

He meant speaker wires, not speakers.

And I would agree, speaker wires are really cheap...why not just buy a roll of it somewhere?
