Ethernet internet keeps disconnecting

My pc internet if I’m away or even when I’m playing my internet says connected but if I load the browser or anything it all says disconnected.

Have you tried downloading and running Malwarebytes to check for malware infections? You may have to download the install file to a usb drive from a different computer and then install on that one and run it. Let it quarantine anything it finds. Other than that, not sure what the problem could be. Does it cut off without opening a browser window?

Still doing it. It found malware but it is still disconnecting

DNS... it's always DNS :D

Jokes aside, I wanted to confirm that while the network icon on the bottom shows connected/internet, you cannot go to any browser?

First things first, make sure you can communicate to the internet by using a command prompt, Type the following commands:

ping google.com
ping 8.8.8.8

It should look like this:

If the first command shows "Ping request cannot find host google.com", then we are indeed looking at a DNS issue.

Says can not find host

Disable any vpn or proxy software you have installed and check. Just noticed you used a vpn to post your last reply.

I assume that was for the ping google.com command and the other one worked (shows 4 replies)?

Johnb is correct with VPNs though. If you have one on your computer, make sure that they are turned off for troubleshooting.

Also, can you do this command in Command Prompt: ipconfig/all

Notate and let us know what information shows for DNS Servers

Should look like this: (your DNS info may be different)

Ping thing did not work. I will do this and send the info here

I had a similar problem recently.

First, check your power and sleep settings, specifically the "advanced power settings" and make sure your ethernet adapter isn't set to turn off to save power.

In my case, the problem turned out to be my iDrive backup program. I was using version 6 which would disable the ethernet adapter for some reason. The only way I could fix it was to restart my computer. I upgraded to the new version 7 and selected "optimize network" in the settings and it seems to have solved the problem.

How did you upgrade your version?

Mrcito, unless you have idrive, this will not apply to you.

if BOTH ping tests failed, then you potentially have a bad network card.

Please do the second ping test again and confirm what message you get.

Please disable any firewall software you may have installed on your pc. Sometimes firewalls will block internet unless you specifically go into the settings and allow your network to connect.

So I reverted the software for the network adapters back a to a 2022 update and everything is working fine
