ethernet cables outside

Hi

I was wondering if I would be able to run an ethernet cable outside, like on the side of the house from one window straight up to another window, would only be outside for about 30 feet MAXIMUM, but would the cable be able to handle rain? The cable would only have to be out there for about 3 months? Thanks.

running a cable outside it fine, i have got 2 cables running outside to go to the computers in my house from the router

If you are running indoor cable outside long-term, it's best to keep out of the wet if possible and keep out of direct sun. For just a few months, no problemo. Your cable will be shielded from most rain by the house eaves. A bit of blowing rain won't do any harm.

You might want to make a slight loop down at the bottom window so any rain running down drips off the cable rather than into the window.
