hi all , i have a fault code come up when i try to boot up my computer , all it says is goback error gb_ui_support(1199) . can anyone tell me what this means ? any help would be greatly appreciated . trhanks
 
Make sure goback is actually disabled from your system. When you boot up (right at the begining when the computer firsts starts up) hold down ctrl+alt and repeatedly press G, if you still have goback on your system you will get a message on a black screen saying 'you are attempting to remove goback press F to continue' press F and it should continue to either chkdsk or into the windows loading screen
 
good news on one part , i did the cntrl , alt and press g and it worked but it now says file missing or corrupted <windows root>\system32\hall.dll. please reinstall a copy of the above file ???
 
Alright if you have a copy of xp on disc. Open the disk on another pc and finds that file, or you can copy it from another running pc with win xp. Once you have the file you need to save it to a flash drive. Then, I believe you should be able to copy that file into the windows folder using a Linux Live disk.
 
hi , i dont have another computer with xp only a laptop with vista , i think most people i know now run vista also . i am now considering purchase of a recovery disc to try to recover windows and then cross my fingers . many thanks for all your help though :)
