Empire: Total War help

So before i purchase Empire: Total War (which costs a lot, like $80), I wanted to play the demo to see if it would run smoothly on my MBP with crossover. The demo told me that I needed to download steam first to play the demo, so I downloaded steam with crossover. Now when i try and get the demo, it always says it can't find or read steam.

Same exact thing happened to me...I gave up trying to get the demo so I could try it. I just gave in and ordered the game. Should be here any day now, I'll throw up some info here on the forum for those interested about the game.

I just wanted to make sure it ran well on my MBP because i have seen too many complaints about game crashes.
