emails thoughts wanted

Hi,

Not quite sure where this one goes on the forum but I'm hoping that someone will be able to point me in the right direction....

I regularly communicate with a friend by emails and recently I have started to get the following message (name deliberately removed).

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

[email protected]

Reporting-MTA: dns;BAY004-PAMC1F9.hotmail.com
Received-From-MTA: dns;nskntmtas02p.mx.bigpond.com

Final-Recipient: rfc822;[email protected]
Action: failed
Status: 5.2.2
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;555 5.2.2 Quota exceeded response SilentForking:[email protected]

Note that I sent the email to a bigpond address and it was returned via hotmail (neither of us has a hotmail address).

To confuse things even more after the message is sent it goes into the sent box BUT they do not arrive at the other end.

My ISP confirms that the messages are being sent and it is only happening to this one mate.

I have spent all afternoon today trying to get in touch with the mozilla communities but it will not accept my password to see if there is a possibility that there was a problem with this version of Thunderbird.... I don't think so because it works with everyone else and now I am trying to eliminate any possibility that it is my end.

Any thoughts????

Thanks

Apparently Bigpond merged with Windows Live which probably explains the hotmail address.

It sounds like their mailbox is too full just based on "Quota exceeded".

Thanks

Thanks for your response Beers, I thought much the same with the "quota exceeded" bit, but if neither of have a hotmail address why would it be "exceeding it's quota" - surely it would have come back as no such address

Thanks again.

It is an automatically generated message because the inbox of your friend is full. You get an hotmail response because bigpond has been bought by hotmail (from Beers's post) so they now have hotmail auto messages.
