Dual PSU

ok heres the plan (im not actually planning on doing it but i would like to know what would happen): Im planning (see previous brackets) on building a comp so that there is no boot time.

On one PSU(main) there would be the mobo and OS HDD thats it. On the other PSU would be everythnig else (other HDD's, DVD drives etc..).

What i want to know is what would happen if the main PSU was running and then i turned on the other PSu with other HDD's etc.. what effect would this have upong the hardware and OS.

In my opinion I don't think it will work having half of your componants off, and other half on. Sounds like trouble/errors to me! Never heard anyone trying to do something like that...
