I am settging up a home wireless network. I have a desktop computer connected to a 2.4 GHz Linksys Router and another desktop and a laptop with wireless cards. I have a DSL modem and use Yahoo SBC. If I connect an ethernet cord directly from the desktop to the modem, I can connect to the internet just fine. However, when I try to go through the router, something is blocking my access. Any suggestions?

Maybe you have to configure th router. The router may not be configured for the net yet, or it may be blocking access via a security setting in the router.

when you are connected through the router, click start>run> type command> type ipconfig /all

What does it say in there?

Are you using a dsl modem or cable modem? If it dsl, it may require a username and password that would need to be entered in the PPPoe setup on the router.

His title says DSL problems, now, did you make sure that there is an ethernet cord running from your dsl modem into the WAN port on your router? if it is, then are you able to connect to the internet if you plug your computer directly into the router via an ethernet cord, if you can, then its a wireless problem. Check and make sure that SSID is on (so your computers can see the router) and also check to see of DHCP is on your router, and that your computer doesnt have a set IP address (only if DHCP is on)

Hey thanks for all your suggestions, I fixed it, it had something to do with the PPPoE settings for the router was well as an older version of Windows on one of the wirelessly connected computers not being assigned a proper IP address. Once manually configured, all computers are now up and running. Thanks again.
