DRM Protection?

I'm not sure about the legality of this but a friend of my dads is currently staying with us and he has DRM protected music on his external hard drive which he was unable to play.

Basically, it directed me to the ms website and gave me the option to download a license. And after doing that I can play the files, but does that mean that he will no longer be able to play them on his computer because the license is active on mine?

Thanks

Not necessarily. It depends on the type of DRM and the number of activations allowed. You have basically authorized your computer to play the music. It should not affect his computer - unless he is only allowed one active authorization at a time. Some DRM is that restrictive and more...
