does video dowloads take up space on the hard drive

I have to download and view a ton of vids for school for about the next year and a half and was worried about them taking up space on my hard drive. I tried downloading them to a flashdrive and viewing them from there and it seems to work fine. Is this a good idea? The vids are WMV files.

How big are the videos? And how much space do you have left on your HD?

If it works on the flash drive it's ok, but I would think it could get slow sometimes.

I have plenty of space on my hard drive , its only about 20% full. The vids are, havent checked actual size but some are 10 minutes and others are 1.5 hours. I guess I will run it on the flash drive for now and if I run into problems save it to the hard drive.

not at all. you can get DL dvds for ~5.00 at family dollar. just noticed that the other day. usually get 100 packs from kmart for 35 usd. either way its not expensive.

You said you had to download and watch them, you didnt say you had to keep them, but if you do have to keep them why not just get around 1tb? external hard drive, they start at around $50 and up depending on the size.

Because that's too much more trouble.

He'll be fine with what he's got.

Of course it'll take up a lot of disk space. But unless you need to review the videos a lot, you can just delete them after you are done with them.
