Does such a card exist

Is there such a thing as a PCI Express sound card? The new mobo I have on order has a whole 4 USB ports (2 of which are in the front), no sound card and no WiFi adapter, 1x PCI slot and 4x PCIe slots (full sized).

Does anyone know of any cheap basic sound cards or even converters that would allow me to get audio from the PCI express slot.

(I don't want to return the mobo because it looks too good lol).

Thanks,
Jon

Literally there are hundreds of PCIE soundcards XD, just go on amazon/newegg and type in "pci express sound card" or "internal soundcard. Budget wise you can find simple ones from 20$ to pro ones around 200$

So far I have not been able to find any, they have all been PCI-e mini not PCI-e. if you could post a couple of examples that would be amazing.

you can only have 1 card in each slot.

a 1x card will fit x1, x4, x8, or x16 slots.
x4 will fit x4, x8, or x16 but not x1
x8 will fit x8, or x16 but not x1 or x4
x16 will fit only x16.

:P Obvious that a bigger card/multiple cards can't be plugged in but had no idea smaller cards would fit larger slots. This puts a rest to all my panic as I would never have more than 2 graphics cards leaving 2 spare slots.

Thanks a lot everyone for your advice, we can now consider this topic resolved.

this only works with the same bus though. Like you would put a plain AGP card into a AGP pro slot, but not the other way around. As long as the card is PCIe, it will go into a PCIe x16 slot, but it will not always take up the full x16 bandwidth.

Thanks guys, I have now ordered the Asus Xonar D2X Soundcard which should do me nicely. It has much better reviews than the creative ones so should make me very happy.
