DL speed drop from 250Kbps to 16Kbps?!?!

i used to have a dl speed of 200Kbps to 300Kbps download speed from SBC dsl...but after i moved i have a dl speed of 45Kbps and after i got a D-Link router it dropped to 16Kbps..................what the hell is wrong with my NIC
my bro have a USB wireless adapter and he dl at 184Kbps.........

is there any way i could increase the speed????
 
you might call your provider and have them ping the lines. you had said you had moved, are you geographically further from the server? i'm in a small town and they said i couldn't be more than about 3 miles from the server. so stands to reason if your close to the "end", you would get slower speeds and based on the condition of the lines and the boosters i think they call it. they pinged my line and told me exactly how far i was from the server, and the quality of the signal, because some folks may not"qualify" for dsl, and i know i would be very upset if i was paying extra $ and not getting much for it. sometimes i have to reset my router when all these computers get real slow. my .02 worth....paul
