I've come across a laptop that happens to turn off and on its monitor, at very random intervals:
- sometimes, it doesnt do it at all
- sometimes it does it a lot
- other times, it keeps it off indefinitely, refusing to turn it on.
I've done the following:
1. Formatted the ROM drive to no avail and, interestingly, if i call the task manager or write on a text processing software or fire up another software, it tends to turn the monitor back on (sometimes).
2. Put the monitor to never go to sleep, but it hasnt solved the issue.
3. Made sure the display plug is correctly connected into its socket.
4. Moved around the computer and opened and closed the lid in quick succession, but it appears that, physically shaking the computer does not improve or
make things worse (a non-factor, apparently).
So my questions are the following:
1. Have you had a similiar issue?
2. If so, did you manage to solve it? How?
3. Do you know of any diagnostic software that could tell me of the condition of the monitor and its feed? (as in, get access to the information that the controller sends to the display)
