Hello- I have a Seattle 440 BX2 motherboard with a Diamond 2UP2750 modem card type of thing and i want to disable the loud ringing sound, i've read that some modems have a adjustable volume but apparently mines not one of them, is there someway to disable the sound altogether? Thankyouforyourtime

have you looked through the right configurations and made sure it doesn't have that option?

for me, in the past, i have just taped up the speaker on my modem (ones that i was not able to have that option). giving me a much weaker noise, but it is still present.

thats all well and good providing that they have broadband in their area and they can afford it.

there is usually some sort of funtion that will allow you to disable the sound of the dial up. its usually typed into the initiation string commands or something similar if the option doesn't work through the modem control panel.

Alot of town dont offer broadband, so you shouldnt just tell him to get it.

As for the sound, when i had dial-up i went into the modem properties and there was an option to select how loud the dialing sound was.
