Dimension 3000 sound card

Umm... Why wouldnt it be able to handle them? Hooking up headphones uses the same power from the pc as hooking up a 500w 5.1 surround sound system. Just make sure you plugged the speakers in to the wall....

yea.....it's independently powered....all you need to do is have the right connections. If your sound card only has 2 channel stereo out, then you're only going to get 2.1 out of the speakers (to my knowledge no Computer speakers support Dolby prologic). So your Sound card will need to have 3 jacks....one for each wire (front surround, rear surround, and center channel). I suspect that you have one output and have the surround speakers plugged into that, hence the surrounds working.

Ok, I've verified that only 2 speakers and the sub are working. I changed the wiring around on the back of the tower, and sure enough, as I changed the wiring around, some speakers would cut out and some work depending on which wire I had plugged into the "speaker" outlet. Any recommendations? Thanks, Wes

does your card support 5 channel audio? The only way to get 5 channel audio with those speakers is to have a card with 5(.1) channel output. It will be 3 independant jacks, so plus your line in (Mic) the card should have 4+ jacks on the back. Any card that is listed as 5.1 analog and in the output(line out) section has the 5.1 channels listed will do the trick.

This is an example, I'm not saying buy this card as it's pretty cheap. Look at the line out in the specs. That's what you need to look for

actually mine only has 3 jacks period. I know we're discussing 5.1, but would this 7.1 card be ok to go ahead and get incase I decide to upgrade in the future? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829120103 Thanx, Wes!
