Hey, I have an M-audio Audiophile USB, which is for connecting your guitar to the computer. Here's a picture and explanation: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/AudiophileUSB-main.html Anyways, your supposed to be able to run your normal computer speakers through this piece of hardware. At any rate, the computer won't seem to pick up my guitar, but even more importantly, I can't hear anything, guitar or normal computer sounds through the speakers. I have a feeling I've set it up wrong, or there is a problem with the Audiophile, because I can hook the speakers up directly to the speaker ports at the bottom of the computer, and you can hear normal computer noises and songs and the like just fine. Here's my set up: http://photobucket.com/albums/y18/envirogriffin/?action=view&current=Computerspeakers.jpg

Should something be plugged into the speaker ports at the bottom of the computer?

Are you running your guitar through an amp or fuzzbox before going into the Audiophile? I think it needs to be unless a Direct Injection box is contained in Audiophile. I would think you plug your guitar into the left (mono) 1/4" jack or the RCA inputs, depending on your amp (which you need I think). I don't really see a problem with your speaker setup, are you sure the output level is turned up, and is the computer recognizing the device?

did it come with any software, any asio drivers or anything along those lines? If it's a stereo interface, it shouldn't be much of a problem. Plug your guitar into the preamp on the front, turn it up to a decent leve. What software are you using? Try adobe audition for a free trial and a quick learning curve. Go into the options of audition, and make sure to select the interface as the sound device. Hit record and you should get some waveforms. As for the speakers, you should just be able to plug into a line out of the interface. Your computer soundcard will be disabled when the USB is plugged in. Hope this helps, if not, check out www.recording.org, they will be able to help you out a lot more than anyone here probably will, no offense :)
