Detecting unauthorized software

Long story short:
1) I have a company issued laptop, and the company does not allow installation of unauthorized software
2) Being without a home computer for 2-3 weeks, I need to use the company laptop temporarily for Skype and Dreamweaver, which I would like to install on the laptop
3) This usage will be completely from home and not at work on the office network
4) I don't want to run afoul of the company policy on installing unauthorized software, but I need to use these progams urgently and don't want to buy a new computer for 3 weeks

Question:
If I install this software but never open or use the program when on the company network, can this software be detected? Is there any program that companies use to detect certain software on a client laptop even if that software is not open or used?

Thanks...

Well, XP Pro has Remote Registry editing, yes? Perhaps your company's sysadmin would be doing a little routine check while you're at work, and finding Registry entries to your verboten programs.
XP also has Remote Assistance, where someone else can take over your PC. When you're at work, say on a coffee break, what's to stop your sysadmin from taking a peek inside your Add/Remove Programs list or Start menu, hm?
