Desktop/Laptop/Wireless Router

Hey,
Recently my wireless DLink DI-624 router power cable broke. So i took it off and connected the modem directly to my desktop (so laptop did not have th net).

I just replaced the cord and all power lights were working connected etc. but internet not working on eithe comp.

I can see both comps in my network places but neither can acces internet. Both show 'Local area network connected at 100 mbs, etc.'

Any help??

you must have cable

what happens is your cable modem stores a downstream nic address, so to use the router again you need to turn everything off, turn the modem back on , wait a minute or 2. make sure the network cable goes from the modem to the wan port on the router, turn on the router , make sure your pc / notebook is plugged into a lan port, then turn on the notebook or pc
