hey,

i just got a Di-524 wireless router so i can access the internet with my laptop, but when i plug the router in i cant even make the desktop connect to the net. when the modem is connected to the router via ethernet and the router is connected to the pc via ethernet and i try to access broadband i get a message saying "remote computer not responding", but when i take the router out of the connection it works fine. All the lights are on to say the wires are connected properly and i have been stuffing round with IP numbers and firwalls for 2 days can anyone please help me? (there is no installation disk, just an adress (http://192.168.0.1) but i cant seem to access that unless the router is connected and i cant access the internet with the router connected.) I SUCK AT COMPUTERS!!! PLEASE HELP!

Cheers.

Service provider?

Is your service provider using PPPoE or DHCP? If you have username and password you need to switch the router to PPPoE and enter the username and password for it to work.

I do have a username and password but i cant even get the computer to recognise the router is connected to configure anything. I serached for new devices and got nothing. could you elaborate on how to give the router my username and password please.

cheers.

Make sure you dont have an ip specified (the router will give you one) in the network neighborhood properties for your lan connection.
