Didnt realy say what we are comparing...laptops? Desktops?

I think Dells laptops are good but their desktops are crap imo.

Hp make both good Desktops and Laptops so they get my vote :)

Dell laptops are absolutely fantastic and rock stable (business class laptops that is), their desktops are not the best, but sure are better value than HP and generally better quality. So my vote is to DELL.

Never get a home-class Dell laptop, make sure you get a business class (much more stable, reliable and build quality is higher, usually they are cheaper than home laptops too)

My vote goes for HP. HP's are great! Never had problems with their desktop's or laptops. IMO HP makes great business/personal laptops and Dell makes great gaming laptops. Dell's desktops are not so great.
Over-all get
Dell laptop for gaming
any HP for business/personal.

Our organization has been using Dell for many years. I have to admit that although their tech support is top notch, we have had no real issues. :) That said, they are more expensive than HP but HP is not far behind.

You left out the option, "neither", for those of us who create our own masterpieces!

hp. the first dell laptop i had was shit, the stupid charger port (where you stick the ac adaptar in) broke loose  I tried to fix it several times, but eventaully, the whole damn thing broke off! To make matters worse, the only thing I could do to fix the laptop was buy a whole new mobo - for $300. More than the laptop itself was worth!!!!!!! :gun:

deffinately hp.

Had one for about 6 years as the stoarge/browser system and it could do anything you asked it to, maybe not that quickly, but as it wasn't meant for gaming or making videos or editing or anything like that, it worked perfectly and was very stable. The motherboard went but even now i am still using fans, hard drive and card reader from it and all are still working fantastically.

As for dell, only experience i have had with them is my cousins desktop computer which i have spent so damn long fixing, never using, always fixing because it is one problem after another, it is a terrible system and if all are the same, then why are dell in business? Also, not that you need it, but if you are a user who doesn't know to much about computers they may aswell not give you support because theres is so shockingly poor

Dell here, my HP laptop keeps breaking in some stupid way, there are apparently 3 webcams installed, the battery is at about 40% max charge at its peak and the whole thing makes a high pitched squeal. Chain that to at one point it got a BSOD every other time you started it and the 5.5 minute boot times. :( Bad times

My dad's Dell Latitude on the other hand has been totally reliable and is built much better than mine is too. My Optiplex is similarly good, it just sits there discretely without getting hot which for a 2 fan PC isn't bad!

Dell. By a long shot. HP cuts WAYYY too many corners.

Although I'd never buy a consumer machine from Dell. I'd get a commercial grade machine instead :)

I have to admit that although their tech support is top notch, we have had no real issues.

LMAO! Their business support may be good... but their general user support is a pain in the buttocks! You can't understand a word they are saying and they are one of those supports that can only read from a script...if something is wrong that isnt on there they dont have a clue...
(I have spent many hours talking to them about my old dell dimension 8400)

In my opinion Dell ain't too bad at all- I reckon people have gone a bit OTT with the hate towards them- I did my high school work experience with my local council computing department and pretty much all the computers, laptops and servers they use are from Dell. That's several thousand- and talking to the people who worked with them, they never seemed to have many major problems.
