DELL notebook SOUND CARDS??

SOUND CARD mean anything on DELL notebooks?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just bought an

INSPIRON 9400 (dell.com.au)

at the bottopm of the quote it says

"Integrated Stereo Sound with Subwoofer"
/

.

i am not that happy with the sound and the subwoofer seems pretty crapppy as well.

what id like to know is

.

i am now going to buy the
XPS M1710.

the m1710 says that the sound card is

"Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio [+AUD 18.70] "

"Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio Software "

what id like to know is - i have heard many people say that in laptops
that sound cards are no different in effecting the "sound"

and no different in options in your sound settings on properities...

can people here please help me out

will i benefit in any way at all becausde the m1710 has the better sound???

Next time, could you please not spread your post out so much?

OK, so I did a little research on the Audigy upgrade and got stuck between two solutions. Some people say it's simply software, others say it's a "booster" chip that still relies on the original sound processor... Regardless, realize the sound is going to be no better than the speakers. I looked around and most people seemed about as pleased with the 9400's speakers as the XPS's speakers. In other words, they are probably the same, just as the laptops are basically identical.

The Audigy is nothing more then a software pack. I looked at it for my laptop, and all your paying for is the Audigy program and drivers, the actual sound chip is the same. But it does add CMSS 3-D, as well as some other cool features.

k this is on topic but off topic at the same time. i've got an inspiron 3800 running xp sp1. i had sound for awhile but recently either the drivers or the card has uninstalled itself. im not even sure what drivers i should be looking for. r even if i can have new drivers for a 3800 on xp. if yyou can, help me out.

wow, interesting.

some people iv chatted to say thge 1710 speakers / sub woofer are better rthat 9400

only time iwll tell i guess..

it starting to seem to me that there is actaully NO differentce

if i wer to build the 9400 and the m1710 on dell.com.au

as they both have the same specifications.

the only one tinu difference is the so called audigy with m1710

.

i am a photographer - i show people my work

as music picture slideshow.s

do u think, that the feathures on the audigy software may come in use opposed to the standard one with 9400?

will i get things like echo and delay that kind thing?
