Dell M991 19'' CRT 1600x1200

I'm not trying to hijack your thread, I'm just trying to give you my honest opinion. I wouldnt bother trying to sell it and especially with local pickup. I tried to sell 2 crt monitors about 2 years ago. Both worked problem free and were in very good cosmetic condition. They wouldnt sell for really cheap and I couldnt even donate them to the library or schools. The time to sell a crt monitor was within a few years of lcd monitor release. Now with lcd monitors cheap you cant even give a crt monitor away. Your best bet is to put an ad in craiglist advertising it for free and then put it out on the street under some weather protection. You may be able to find a recycler that will take it for free or a small charge and I have heard some office supply stores, atleast use to, take them for a small fee. Kinda sucks I know, its too heavy to ship but not enough interest locally to pick it up. Its not like an old video card that could still find use that may only sell for $10 but only cost $5 to ship. I think somebody really dropped the ball when the mass conversion from crt to lcd occurred because no proper arrangements were made for people to dispose of their crt monitor.

Donate to Goodwill. And take heart that you may have helped someone who is really in need.
Our Goodwill has several crt's that are priced at $5 and they sit for awhile.
Weight and space are the killer issues.

I can gaurantee they weren't 1600x1200 resolution 75hz monitors ;) Most CRT's are 1024x768, decent ones are 1280x1024. This monitor blows them away.

Like I said, for those that cannot afford a decent LCD (even a 1440x900 is $90 or so, and this has way more pixels and no lag gaming like a cheap LCD does) but still want high resolution gaming this is perfect. This monitor has a good bit more pixels than a 1680x1050 monitor, just a hair less than full 1080p.

I'm not going to lie, if I was within range of PA I would pick it up, I haven't seen a CRT with a resolution that high before. I'm sure someone will be interested in it, good luck with the sale.

Whilst 87dtna has given good reason to get the monitor to offset the comments made about not selling it or selling it for less, might I suggest to others that in future if you have advice for selling, buying, trading or getting rid of parts you do it in pm rather than in the thread itself.

If you do not wish to buy the item becaues you feel it is either not worth selling or overpriced, that is your opinion. You may voice it to the member in private and, like in this case, there may well be a good reason for the price, however it is down to the seller and the potential buyer to agree upon a price, not you as a bystander so in future do not post in someone elses thread regarding the price or how to shift the item, only post if you wish to make an offer or enquiry.

I would also suggest that you re-read the rules as what I just posted is put right there:

No threadjacking or thread crapping. Do not post any negative comments or post alternative links to items at other forums or retailers.

Good luck with the sale, that is a hell of a low price for such a high res monitor, just a shame with the weight and shipping.

Thanks Aastii. I understand the comments, and I agree if it was a 1280x1024 monitor it would be getting pitched into the garbage. I just hate to see this go to waste.
