Hi, I have some difficulties connecting my XPS M1710 to my wireless router, I am on the same channel of the router and the signal is >95% and I can't connect. Is the 802.11n not compatible to 802.11bg?

Well how do you know you have a 95% signal if you cant connect? It should be backward compatible.

Most likely because he can see the signal strength in either the Windows Wireless utility, or his wireless card utility.

802.11n is backwards compatible with b and g, so it should work. Do you have the DHCP server enabled on the router, and if it is, have the TCP/IP settings on your wireless card set to automatic.
