Dead Laptop

I just got my laptop that I bought from ebay (last time I buy anything from ebay) and so far it appears I got screwed again. I have plugged it up with and with out the battery installed pressed the power button and it does nothing. I have also tried using just the battery with the same outcome. I Have looked at many other forums about other peoples laptops not turning on but I see nothing of use. Can anyone help me. It is a Gateway MX6422.

just incase try and get another suitable battery to test its not just a dodgy battery, if its not as advised above return and get your money asap, and i suggest you report who ever sold it to you so no one else buys from them again.
 
Most ebay sellers are reasonable, send it back and ask them to see if another battery will fix it.
