D-Link vs Linksys

Linksys is actually not made by cisco. Cisco acquired them to tap into the consumer market. they are still based off of broadcom hardware, and all cisco does is slap their name on it. However, they are good routers and I have owned a few of them and they widely support open source firmware which is awesome

I would go for a Linksys or a buffalo

Linksys

Go with Linksys...I've owned the same one you are looking at (but with Speedbooster) for almost 2 years now. It has been switched between 4 old machines before being married to my nice new one and worked great on every single one of them. The ONLY problem I've ran into is I had to update the driver when I temporarly played WoW...not a big deal though, 5 minutes later and I was back in action. You won't be let down when you go with Linksys...and Crisco!;)

I've had lots of problems with D-Link NIC's. Their other hardware is typically quite good, but I'd definetly pick a Linksys over D-Link router...

Hehe, I will say I have a Linksys router(pre-Cisco one) and a D-Link wireless access point. The router has given me no problems this semester where as the access point has totally locked up a few times. I actually thought the darn thing was trashed!

I <3 Linksys, and recommend them to all my customers.
Never had any problems with any of their hardware.

Their tech support = love.
They also never had me on hold =)
I always get right to a tech when I call (after the short questionair thing)
If you're wondering why I had to call, no it's not becuase of their hardware... it was either my ISP, or my computer had a brain fart and disabled the network adapter, and I failed to check it, being the retard I am =)

Okay, get this, I found a Linksys WRT54GC for almost nothing!!!!

I was browsing the Best Buy site (Canadian site, because I'm from Canada) and came across said router advertised for $0.00 and yes it is legit. So its regularly $80, on sale for $40 and then tack on a $40 mail in rebate.

u can get a dlink off of tigerdirect way cheaper and uhh i have both but both do have their problems. dlink works if you do all the steps correctly, you might have to call up your isp every now and then and that router took me a while to load but ever since then it has never went bad or anything.

I have had both of those routers i had the wrt54gs and rite now i have a dlink I both bought them at the same price but I reccomend the linksys

I am almost using LINKSYS for 3 months. To date I would give a thumps up to it.Only at the initial stage I had to update the firmware via their hotline assistance.
