i just started building an acrylic case for my new system, and i was just wondering if anyone had ever done anything like this before, im finding myself a little overwhelmed with the acrylic chipping on my cuts, is there a lubricant i can use or a certain blade......any input would be appreciated :)

^^ i dont think you can see it from the pics, but the edges are very rough :(

Get a good vice, some bits of fairly soft wood, a sanding block and some 200, 800 and 1200 grit paper (doesnt matter what grip really aslong as they are pretty fine.

Shove the piece of acrylic into the vide, get a sanding block and paper, and start sanding- it will take a long time but the results will be worth it..

I build mini acrylic cases for a living as I own a custom computer company in the UK here are some tips:

  1. Electric Diamond tile cutter (no water) for cutting
  2. 800 wet and dry sand paper for going over the edges (use wet)
  3. Then sharp knife and scrape the edges
  4. Then flame polish the edges that are not going to be bonded
  5. Then use a strong acrylic bond for fitting all together

That’s it all done and should look nice; you can see one of my acrylic test cases here and the building of it
