CreativeLabs Sound Blaster Audigy SE problem

Well for one of the things i received for Christmas/birthday i got a new sound card. I got the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE. I love the card and the difference from my old sound blaster live card. Theres one thing i noticed though while listening to music. No matter what im doing on my computer, anything from using photo shop or aim, to my computer not under load of a program other than i tunes, the music skips and i guess is choppy?. I came to the forum to see if you guys had an idea, because my specs "at least" to play music is i guess decent,
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
2.08 GHz, 1 gig of ram
120 gb Hd
I cant remember if i had this problem with my live sound card, but i think i did, most positive.
Im just confused why its doing this, i could understand if the pc's under a load, but even when its not its skips and is choppy randomly.
** I did, about a month ago install another stick of 512 ram, but i though the pc would benefit but i haven't noticed a difference of much.

Thanks again for reading and your suggestions, help:D

My PC is about the same age as yours. I tried a few Creative sound cards and had the exact same problem you have, so I gave up and bought a Diamond soundcard that has worked perfectly since it was installed. Sounds great, too.

I've read that a number of Creative cards simply do not work properly with VIA chipsets from that era. There have been programs and BIOS tweaks to adjust RAM latency to try to solve this problem, but with mixed results.
