creative zen problem

hey guys,
im having a problem with my creative zen touch media player. for some reason it only works with the version of creative media source (the software required for playing music from the player) that comes on the cd purchased with my player. i tried to upgrade the software to a newer version, and it wont detect my media player. i was wondering why this is happening because it is not likely for newer versions of software to not be compatible with an older product, or maybe i am doing something wrong...
please help!
 
i did all that, i gott all the most recent drivers, firmware, and the software. but the software (creative mediaSource) is the thing that is giving me a problem.
 
Try going through control panel and click "portable media devices" and try to get it in there. That fixed a problem for me with detection on my Iriver.
 
right...I had the same problem but with creative zen sleek. Its just wasnt detected by windows media player or creative media source. The problem I had was to do with MTP. It kept saying invalid INF whenever i tried updating the driver. It is the software that is causing the problem along with the drivers. Even though u have the latest drivers it wouldnt solve the problem (for me it didnt). Creative support was absolutely useless. In the end i had to reinstall windows xp for a different reason (after 3 years that is) now when i plugged mp3 player (via usb) it worked perfectly fine with windows media player.

my suggestion is do not use creative media source, use wodnows media player instead. As far as i know alot people have this driver/software problem with creative zen series. Its a pity that such great player ruined by poor software/drivers by creative.
 
ye ai agree, i think media source is one of the worst pieces of software for a company as good as creative.
