hey wondering is it really necessary to upgrade? from a live 24-bit to like say a ZS or X-FI i mean they are only better by like more options and a higher SNR is it worth it? any comments welcome thank you

It all depends. Number one, if you don't have nice, expensive speakers you won't notice any difference. Number two, since the live is dedicated, it's still better than integrated. Third, how often do you use your speakers and do they sound bad to you now? I've got an Audigy 2 ZS and I am definitely not planning on anything better than that, even this card seems like more than I need, and I've got 500W 6.1 speakers.

i had the live 24 bit card and went from that to the x-fi xtreme music and i saw a huge difference and i have the logitech Z-5500's.

what did you do with the live and what kind of difference?

i still have it. and the difference is when i turned up my speakers all the way with the live it started crackling and distoring and it sounded hollow and it doesnt do that any more with my soundcard.

but like for me i just listen normally and like nice sound so should i just keep the live i mean i am only 15 and not like having parties at my house and cant turn up to loud cause of parents so is it really necessary? cause both live and X-FI are 24/96

well then if you cant turn it up all the way save your money and keep the live its still a good card. yes the live and X-fi are 24/96 but the live doesnt have a 24 bit crystallizer and cmms3 i think thats what its called. thats why the x-fi is expensive.

what is dolby digital ex support what does that do on the value card?

that means it supporsts dolby digital and if your speakers support it you will be able to use it. otherwise you would have to buy an external thing to hook up to your speakers or soundcard cant remember which and that would do the same thing.

is it worth it to get dolby digital cause i have the z-5300e and it does not but is it worth to get it?
