Creating 2d MMORPG questions

ok so i want to create an mmorpg using something like Playerworlds. Can my server be my laptop which i use daily? and are there any programs similar to Playerworlds ease-wise.

any comp can be a server... is your lappy always connected to the internet keep in mind if you want to accommodated the 1000s of peps that might be playing your rpg ull need a real server and even if not atlest upgrade your connection to an RC-1
