Thick git here again, what does it mean when you see cracked server as i have seen a few on CoD Black Ops.
Can anybody play on the servers and are they not the same as the other servsers, cheers.
A normal server you must have a unique GUID, an identifier that is unique to each game. Basically a unique key code, and it serves 2 purposes.
1. On normal servers, if they are streaming to punkbuster, VAC, punksbusted, or any other anti-cheat database, the GUID will act as a way of tracking people, and ensuring they are legit. You may have seen when playing CoD4 for example message at the bottom left or where you speak saying that such and such a body (code) has been banned. This is because they are on the database as having used, or as using cheats, so their GUID is blacklisted, and they can't join secure servers. The code in the brackets is their GUID.
2. To make sure they own the game. If they don't have a unique GUID, or a GUID at all, it won't let them in, and the only times that you have no GUID or one that isn't unique is when you get the game illegally.
The second point explains what a cracked server is. It doesn't have that GUID check, so anyone, whether they have a GUID or not, can join. But it also isn't streaming to PB, VAC, or any other anti-cheat system, so yes, you can join, but chances are there will be 1 or more cheaters in there
