Hi, I would like to be able to copy a boot disk to a folder on Hard Drive so I can make a new boot disk in future from the folder when boot disk in lost or damaged.
Can anyone help me please? I have rawwrite to make boot disk from image but dont have the image obviously. It was suggested to me to use rawwrite to take the image from the boot disk but I don't know how to do that.

Cheers.

Here are some already available free boot disks: http://www.bootdisk.com/

But you can just as easily use Gparted or Ubuntu or Hirens or The Ultimate Boot Disk or even any Windows boot disc

It all depends upon what you need to access the boot disk with
If its to access a restore image then the program that creates these images (like Acronis; Ghost; and many others listed HERE) will have the facility to create bootable disc images within the program itself

OK, well I have a boot disk that has a ghost.exe file on it. Its used to boot a machine and then access a CD which puts software on a machine. I want to copy this boot disk to folder and then be able to use contents of that folder to create boot disk in future. Sorry I forgot to mention its a floppy disk I am talking about. Not sure if that clarifys anything.

Clueless. :-(

I created a single boot floppy with ghost 2003 and a menu and CD drivers and mouse driver on it
It took me a while, but I was determined ;), there is not 1K available on the disk

I then created an image of this floppy, and use it when I want to ADD to the CD write creating a boot disk plus an entire image

I take it that you have something similar?

Edit:

Here's a free (so it says) Floppy Image program: http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/files/floppyimage152.zip

OS: Win98/Me/NT4/2000/XP

sorry, I can't get my head around "ADD to the CD write creating a boot disk plus an entire image".

The overall end result that the boot disk is used for in conjunction with a CD is putting a whole new image on a hard drive.

When you say you created an image of the floppy, do you mean you an image on a CD? I need it in a folder.

Thanks

Well we are both not being very clear

I created a floppy image
I then created a full image of the hard drive

So far two images
1. About 1.4 Meg in size
2. The entire hard drive about ~ 8 Gig (I think)

Then I burned the Hard Drive image and I also added the bootdisk image
making a full bootable DVD image of my drive, including a full boot menu (when it actually boots from the DVD)

BUT.

Acronis will do all this for you automatically
No need for all this manual stuff, I just wanted to personalize it a bit

ok, I understand what you did now. :)

I just want to copy a floppy boot disk, but not to another floppy immediately, only to a safe place on my computer so in future if that boot disk is lost or damaged I can create a new floppy boot disk. I don't think I can be any clearer. :)

Surely that can be done??

I already have rawwrite. Can create floopy boot disk using it. Just dont know how to take contents from floppy to folder using it. Do you know?
Step by step for the real computer illiterate if possible?
