Maybe the last speaker is broke?. How do you have the speakers setup in the properties?

hi there nar the speaker is fine because i took one back two the shop coz of this and got anouther system so it cant be the system and i got it set two 5.1 in the sound properties its so frustrating

Did you try playing anything with 5.1? I've seen home theaters on settings where they only use left and right with no center unless they receive 5.1

Also, did your card come with software?

Sounds like you have stereo x2 mode enabled. If you want all speakers to work on stereo (2 channel material) you would need something like speaker fill on, or CMSS if you have a Creative sound card.

To test to see if all of your speakers work, just pop in a DVD with a 5.1 capable media player.

There is nothing wrong with the 5th channel, you are just using it wrong.

The problem may come also from your sound card. It is possible that the cables or components inside your computer moved, and the sound card may pick up electrical interferences from the power supply. In this case turn off the computer, open the case and then try to organize the power cables as nice as possible and bundle them together with a twist or a zip tie. Try to move them as for as possible from the ports in the back and the sound card and as close to the hard disk or CD / DVD drive. Sometimes it may be very difficult to get rid of all the interferences if your sound card is integrated on the motherboard, so another solution may be to buy a new sound card.
