Connection problems with the game Generals

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I'll give it a shot...

A few months now I'm experiencing the "Could not connect to Generals online" message when I'm trying to connect to Generals online. I have forwarded every needed port for Generals on both my router and WinXP firewall.
Weird thing is, when I try to connect on my laptop, it works flawlessly. My laptop and my PC are in a network. I have forwared no ports on to my laptop, so I think it's not a router problem.
I tried to connect my ADSL modem directly to my computer, but still the same message (internet itself is working OK).

Specs:
P4 2.53 Ghz
512 Mb DDR SDRAM
Radeon 9800XT 256mb
windows xp sp2
router: Sitecom WL-122

Does someone have a solution for my problem? Any help would be greatly appriciated

so it has something to do with the settings on the desktop computer...try seeing if you can ping the laptop from the desktop

I tried it, it says Minimum= 1ms and Maximum= 1ms
0% lost

Which settings should I change to get the game to work online?
