Connecting Video Camera to PC

If the camera is fairly new and has iLink/firewire/DV on it, you can purchase a fairly cheap firewire card(usally around $40 max) If it uses miniDV or Digital8, than it's certainlly capable of using firewire.

Now, if it's older(IE VHS, VHS-C, Hi8) you'll need an analoge capture card. A good one of these is the WinTV PVR-150, but it's more around $60-80.

Any camera would be compatable with any capture card, but the quality from firewire is MUCH better, and it's much easier to work. DV is capable of controling your camera and what not where a capturecard is like plugging into the front of your TV.

You just need capture software.I use WinDV for transfer from DV camera to PC (both firewire ports),easy and free.
If you then want to edit the movie, you will need something like I use Premiere Pro or something cheaper or Windows movie maker.
