I have a windows 98SE laptop, and would like to connect it to my work network. it is a small company, an IT support isn't provided:eek: . I have a standard user account, but do not know how to connect.

I have the CAT5 cables etc, I just need to work out how to log in!

bringing back the memories of win98
is this like a WORKGROUP or something ? with internet access ?
more details would be useful
but generally all you have to do is get the IP range and subnet mask from the Admin and the gateway and DNS if there is any for internet access
i dont really remember how to set them on win98 but i think it's the same as XP

if you log onto a work computer and type ipconfig at a command prompt it will give you that info. Not tech support.

I would assume that it should be ALMOST plug n play.

Re:

well, I finally bit the bullet and installed windows ME. So if I connect my laptop to the netowrk with a Cat 5 Cable, will it "plug and play" ?
