i would just like to ask how wifi internet cafe owners manages their connection? if i connect my laptop to a hotspot, do i need to install something on the computer? is there a prepaid card that i need? how can i be able to connect to their billing system?

Most cafes send out their wireless signal (and maybe some wired ports) that you can connect to as you would a router. So, you could use Windows XP SP2's wireless Zero to access...or use the program that comes with your wireless cards.

The cafe will have certain firewalls set up so that you can't do certain things though, but thats no worry to you in regards to connecting.

Yeah, you should just be able to see their network in the Start>Connect To>Show all Connections screen. Word or warning though, some of these are not secured, so people can see what you are doing pretty easily, I would suggest not doing anything that needs a level of security...
