connecting computer speakers to tv?

So in about a month I plan to buy a new hdtv for my bedroom. I'm trying to turn my computer into a small htpc, connecting the computer to the new tv via vga/hdmi, ect. I have almost everything planned out, but I would really LOVE to somehow upgrade my 2.1 system and connect a 5.1 system to the tv. I dont have a sound card right now, I'm using onboard audio (I understand I'll need a new sound card too). But what I want (and I'm not sure if its possible) is to use the speakers as a full-time speaker system for the tv. For example, when not actually viewing anything from the pc, have the speakers still work when watching satelite or something. I don't want to buy a full home theater surround sound system when its only going in my bedroom, but it'd be cool to have a little 5.1 system for the tv/pc. Here's a link to the speakers I'm thinking of picking up. I can see on the back of the sub there are rca's. If i used y-splitters and sent one set to the tv and one set to the computer, would this work? And since these speakers are already powered, I wouldn't need an amp or reciever would I? I hope this makes sense lol :D

So the speakers will still be on your computer? If that's the case, just get an RCA to Headphone(3.5mm) cable and go from your TV's audio out to your computers Line-in. If the speakers are analog, you could probably plug them directly into the TV, but obviously only using 2.1.
