connecting a fan, did I do good? (pic)

I have a spare 120mm fan that came from an old psu, I couldn't find any two pin connections in my rig so I took the one from my psu and soldered it onto a 4-pin slot with the same colour wires. I'm useless when it comes to electronics which is why I have to ask here before I short out my rig... will this work?

As you can see from left to right, 4pin>soldering>yellow/black 2 pin> red/back >fan :rolleyes:

Am I good to go?

Sounds like it'll work perfectly. Just make sure you tape it up so there are no bare connections hanging around inside your case which can possibly short :O!

good call on the tape, almost forgot!

well it works but the 120mm fan runs at full speed and sounds like a lawnmower:eek: it has a blue/black wire with a 3 pin slot which im guessing is used to regulate the fan speed... is there anywhere I can plug this in so I can manually adjust the speed?

Just use the red and black wires, connect them to the +12v connectors, then put a pot inline with the red to regulate speed;)

in english please!!!

+12v connectors?

"pot inline with the red to regulate speed" :confused:

I might not have mentioned this before but I am a total noob....

Pot = Potentiometer

Regulates voltage with a turn knob

Edit: Or go out and buy a cheap single fan controller. There like $7 at newegg
