Hello, for the past few months i noticed that my computer works slowly than usual even my laptop computer loads faster. Okay, when i start my computer it take much more time to load in the place below in the picture than before, like two or three times ;/

All programs like Skype or Steam also starts very slowly. Even the games at the loading screens takes much more time to load than usual or on my laptop computer. What could be the problem?

Oh yes, also when i try to shutdown my computer i get this instead of the usual table:

Also i get it when the computer loads i need to press OK to continue.

Could be infected. What anti-virus do you have?

I would run a scan using Malwarebytes to see if there's any problems. How much free space do you have? Try deleting unneeded programs/files. Do you defrag regularly?

Can you give us a screen shot of when you have to press OK? To change the logon/logoff screen... Go into control panel, user accounts, click on where it says change the way users log on or off. Make sure that both boxes are checked for use welcome screen and fast user switching. If they are already checked then you have other issues. You may be infected and as suggested before, I would scan your system with malwarebytes.

Okay, im using ESET Smart Security 4.2.71.2. C disk: Total space: 154GB Free: 99,1GB D disk: Total space: 311GB Free: 248GB.

And no i didnt do any defrags as far as i know, actually i dont know what it is and i will try to scan my computer.

John, the boxes werent checked i checked them now i dont get any more of those tables, thanks.

Up your shared memory, also, if you upgrade to Windows 7, then you get the option to use ReadyBoost, it allows you to use a memory flash pen that you have inserted as extra RAM.
Graphics cards can also speed up the graphics, if you are playing games it takes a little weight off the RAM. I have a motherboard which only accepts 1gb and 256mb ram. 1GB 256MB is the MAX, I did a clean install and it works alot quicker, otherwise your best bet is SHARED MEMORY UP TO MAX, DEFRAG, ADVANCED SYSTEM CARE (DOWNLOAD FROM GOOGLE), DISK CLEAN UP, AND RUN CHKDSK.exe, (when running, tick both boxes, it will require a restart!)

Hope this helps...

Start > Programs/All Programs > Accessories > System Tools

All you need for disk clean up and defrag are here,

and what I said earlier

Right click My Computer on Desktop, > Properties > Advanced Settings (I think) > Check Disk.

Windows 7 sucks. I had it, hate it, downgraded. :P

What will the defrag do? I dont want to lose any files :/

To be honest, I think Windows 7 has the graphics, the startup speed but not a very user friendly interface. Microsoft should keep XP but improve the entire OS.

Aslong as you dont then get Vista...

No i had problems with Windows 7, programs and games were crashing and that never happened on Windows XP.

And how about that defrag?

Basically Defrag scans through your entire computer, and rearanges how all the files are written to the Hard drive, it squashes them all together. If you have never done it it can take a few hours. You wont lose any files and it wont physically change the position of the files how you access them, it just moves everything on the harddrive so it takes less time to retrieve the data you need.

But as i say, defrag, clean up, check disk, shared memory
and if you can find it out and afford it (aslong as its supported)
Graphics card, RAM, and if you generally delete anything not needed.

Also I find that AOL, Norton AntiVirus, Norton Internet Protection, and rarely, Internet explorer 8 can also Lag your system.

You should really defrag and checkdisk and cleanup regularly...

Please post a hijackthis log so I can see if there is anything going on in the system.

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces

The games crashing... on windows 7 (and vista i think), Microsoft updated the os from 32 bit to 64 bit (Im only 14 so I am not that clever on this btw.). That then meant that all the 32x (32 bit) programs were incompatable. But, if you right click on a game or program, go to properties, then go to compatability

Windows-7-compatibility-mode.gif

... set it to run as xp service pack 2, disable visual themes, desktop composition, apply and OK, it temporarily changes windows to a 32x version. when you close the program, the PC changes back, but while it is in the 32x, you have 1 basic, uncustomisable theme, no areo peek, and you lose all the windows 7 high techy stuff like that... Also I think it works aswell if you go to control panel, "change the theme", an in the box, scroll right to the bottom, you will see the old 98, xp, 2000 colour schemes, use one of them to combat the 64x problem...

Sorry if I am rambling on...

It does not work as extra RAM, it works as a disk cache.

I'm looking for unneeded files and programs and deleting them, but no I haven't done the defrag yet. Will it really be the same as it was?

If you're running the defrag make sure you aren't doing anything else on the computer. Check to be sure your anti-virus wont start a scheduled scan in the middle of the defrag. And close all open windows and dont do anything on the computer till the defrag is done.

And make sure the computer wont go into sleep mode or hibernation while defragging.
