I was reading an article a while back and I saw a workstation that consisted of a monitor mouse and keyboard, no tower. I work for the Cambece law firm and I was thinking we could secure data better that way. Does anyone know what those systems are called?

no i think Cambece is on about a terminal that connects to a centralised hub, thats the only thing i can think of it being called. basically you have a keyboard and monitor and other peripherals connected to a remote station. i dont know how its implemented, in fact i haven't heard anything about it for ages

well, it would be easy to do if you had a base unit still there but not have the full OS installed, just the terminal software that allows login to the main server (probably remote) where the login info is stored along with data. But that still has a tower at each desk, it just doesnt have anydata on it, just the terminal server login details..... if ya get what i mean. It's what most schools/small work places have. Terminal machines which connect to a main server.

How amny computers are you talking about here, just one, 10, 100??? if it was just one or two then perhaps some nifty work witha KVM switch could help you out.... That would eliminate the need for a tower altogether.... i dont know.....

a can't see why this would secure data anymore than a normal corporate network.
If its space your looking to save take a look at dell workstations there pretty small and common in corporate environment
