computer wont recognize my speakers

hey im new here and dont know much about computers so bear with me.
my brother did a system recovery on my computer because it froze and everything was back to normal except my sound. i had no sound and when i went to the control panel and went to devices, it said i had no speakers available.but before the system recovery the speakers worked fine.anyone got an idea of how i can get them working again.its a 2004 hp pavilion

the computer doesnt recognize ur sound card, its not ur speakers, u and download a program called everest home edition and that will tell u the drivers u need.
 
Go to HP.com, find their support/drivers page, and there should be an option to type in your model number. They should have a page with all the drivers for your computer.
