Computer to Computer or Router?

Hello,

I have been using an ad-hoc computer to computer secured wireless network. However I have been told that using a wireless router brings better performance. Is that true? Does any know of the benefits to using the two methods. By the way I am a home/office user here.

Thanks,
Tim

Theres's no performance loss. The benefits would be:
Always on connections, built in firewall and NAT routing

Ad hoc should be the same speed as with a router ...as long as you are not using ICS for you internet connection. Do you go on the internet with these machines ? if yes, broadband or dialup. can you set any kind of encryption on your wireless cards, for that is something to consider if you can not. Possible someone could gain access to your pc.
