computer speaker problem

so a few months ago i buy these logitech 2.1 speakers and i love them. then the other day i turn em on and the right speaker is very static-y. the left speaker is just fine but the right has this loud distortion, you can still hear the music but it is distorted. if you press on the bottom side of the cone the speaker works just fine, like nothing ever happened. does anyone know what the problem is and is there a way to fix it...?

how about, you either blew the speaker, or check your sound card drivers, check your connections to every plug associated with them....

Sounds like you blew the speaker. That happens when the outer cone tears its seal with the rubber part around it (i know how speakers work, just dont know what the parts are called :P ) You could try to glue it where the rubber part meets the center cone or whatever its called, that will probably work. If not, just buy some new ones.

well, not really, if that happened, he didnt blow his speaker, his seal around the cone corroded, and the speakers are too new to do so, so he blew the voice coil inside of it, which happens on cheaper speakers when they get cranked (ask me about speakers, i went the "cheaper" route a few times)

how cheap is cheap? they are logitech Z - 3e speakers, they are by far the best speakers i've ever had. i thought logitech were good....there is no warranty on them, got em from newegg. i really liked the sound of these speakers, should i buy new ones and hope they last longer or should i buy some different ones? any suggestions for speakers? i spent $60 on these and i dont want to spend more than that. also wouldn't my sound card be fine since one speaker is working and the other isnt?

wow. can you simplify your answer? It's a little too detailed for me.

They might have just been bum speakers from the plant. The cone might not have been properly glued in, the voice coil could have had a flaw...sounds like a fluke to me. You sure there's no warentee?

If you liked them, then get another set. Even really cheap speakers should last longer then 3 months, expecially if you don't push them like real HT speakers. You're sound card should be fine. You can test it by plugging your computer speakers into the earphone jack on a portable CD player. If you get the same result...then it's the speaker.

If you get a new set, keep the old ones in case you lose another speaker. You'll now have backups so you don't have to buy a whole new set. Altho if it happens again, I'd think twice before buying a third pair.

well i went internet shopping today and i found a few that i like. i know most people are going to say, all computer speakers are cheap, it doesnt matter which ones you buy. either way, i am having trouble deciding so here are the candidates....
