Computer randomly shutting off

Hello all, I think I was once part of this forum ages ago when I was building my machine but have since forgot my user name.

Anyway, I'm having a strange issue. After booting and showing the desktop (I'm running Windows 7), it will randomly shut off. Other times, I'll turn it on and it will show nothing but black. I've ensured that the monitor is working properly. Other times, it will work fine. It seems to randomly switch between these three things, usually giving me the most trouble in the mornings when it is first turned on.

The randomly shutting off makes me think the PSU might be the issue, but I'm just not sure what. The black screen makes me want to blame my graphics card. I tried the on-board graphics which also didn't work though. Next time I get it to work I'll try a system restore. Any other ideas? Many thanks.

Full system specs please, and randomly powering off (like you pulled the plug on it) is a definite sign of a PSU problem, most likely that it's not enough power for the system and shutting off to prevent the thing from popping.

Yepp I think that is a PSU issue or a CPU overheating issue. We can't help you untill you post complete computer's specs.

Download this and then run it as admin and then post a screenshot here -

Use the snipping tool or the print screen button.
